Digital Storytelling

Assignment Title: Digital Storytelling

Uses in the Classroom: This tool can be used to provide basic instruction for students in the traditional classroom and online. It provides a means for instructors to demonstrate and explain different tasks, assignments and new math concepts.  Additionally, it is a tool that is used to help students learn more effectively and how to problem solve in mathematics.

This tool will provide students with an  instructional video that will assist them in learning the concept of order of operations.  Also, it addresses the needs of auditory and visual learners.

Issues to Consider:  In order to use Digital Storytelling effectively, students will need access to computers, Internet access, digital photos that have been uploaded to their computer and a stereo headset with microphone to record their voice. Additionally, students will need to be familiar with maneuvering around an Internet browser window. If these items aren't available for the students at home, they should be provided for them in the classroom.

Copyright: The video provided was originally created and produced by Barbara Henderson for educational purposes. It should not be duplicated or reproduced without prior authorization. The original screen shots used in the video were created by Wisc-Online. The Wisc-Online digital library contains 2555 objects that are accessible to all WTCS faculty at no cost and with copyright clearance for use in any WTCS classroom or online application. The music playing in the background was provided compliments of the sample music library on my computer. The song is titled Sleep Away by Bob Acri.
